YAMAHA YAS 62 ALTO SAXOPHONE REVIEW PROFESSIONAL
I love my 62 alto and I'll never part with it. Yamaha YAS62 alto saxophone - with Mark II/III supplementary reviews Origin: Japan (uk.) Guide price: 1900 (MkIII) Weight: 2. Buy Yamaha YAS-62 Professional Alto Saxophone Lacquered online at an affordable price. he's just one of a number of guys who have offered to buy my horn. Heck, Jeff Kashiwa and I were playing at a club one night, and liked my 62 alto so much that he offered to buy it on the spot (or at least trade his horn straight across the board), and he was playing a top-of-the-line Keilwerth at the time. Conceived as a professional instrument available at an affordable price point, the YAS-62 is based on Yamahas well-known 61 line. A-B them and pick the horn that you like better.Personally, I take offense to anyone who calls the 62 alto an "entry level horn" (I know those aren't your words, but those of the local sax guy with whom you were talking). I have a Mark VI alto which I use strictly for lead alto purposes, but I use my 62 for most everything else. That being said, it is all personal preference. I do prefer the 82Z line over the Custom EX line.
I've also owned Yamaha Customs (875), and have been dissatisfied with their altos. I also am of the opinion that the original YAS-62 is superior to the current YAS-62II.
I've played the 82Z and it's an excellent horn (in fact I've considered picking one up as a backup), but it doesn't have the "sparkle" (and I'm NOT talking asthetics) that my old 62 has. Lightweight semi-hard case that can be carried by hand, with shoulder strap or like a backpack. As a professional who has played the same YAS-62 for 19 years, I can honestly say that I prefer the 62 to the 82Z. Improved low B/C# connectionįingering remains the same but the new connection has a longer lever and keeps adjustment more stable. Very much designed as a blank canvas, this horn is at home in pretty much any context from. Easy to control, slightly darker tone with a more solid tonal core. For an all-rounder the Yamaha YAS-62 is extremely hard to beat. Slightly narrower bore, blows comfortably and gives a faster response.
YAMAHA YAS 62 ALTO SAXOPHONE REVIEW SERIES
The 62 series is perfect for those looking for a versatile saxophone for all walks of musical life." What's New 62 Neck Design
"Highly expressive, with a rich resonant tone, the new 62 series maintains the flexibility and excellent response of previous models whilst benefitting from a new neck design, improved pitch, greater musical expression and a redesigned case.
The 62 series has a new low B-C# connection added whilst also benefitting from a new neck, new engraving design and new case, all of which really add to the overall feel, sound and look of this versatile instrument." A Modern Day Classic The ergonomics are superb, though its interesting to note that Yamaha eschewed the complex modern Selmer layout for the bell key spatulas, opting instead for a simpler non-tilting table. Both the new 62 and new 82Z have had some great new features added to improve these already well received instruments. This was replaced on the 62 with a more complex design, but the 61 bell brace is still in use today on the 275 series horns. "After rigorous testing with artists from around the world, Yamaha have managed to implement a number of significant new specifications that enhance the sound and feel for players.
