The solution demanded that I launch dota app, right-click on it when it appears on the dock, from the drop-down (technically rise up) menu select options-show in finder and then delete it from there. maybe something inside of me did not approve of having two icons I did not want to stay in the launcher. Anyway, with the Identity API scope approval API thing, I renewed my search for a solution to remove at least the dota icon. Even Dr Cleaner did not find residual files from the app so I had just let the icon stay. Previous searches on this issue online had me delete obscure files from different directories but that had not helped remove the icon either. I had another nagging icon of Dota 2 game from Steam that was there in my launchpad in spite of having uninstalled the game and steam over a year ago. I could not find answers online either (maybe I did not look hard enough?) I could not find the chrome apps folder in my applications directory and did not know what to do. Questions? Problems?
